What cleaning a Marietta home involves
The brick ranch is the defining property type here and it comes with a specific set of surfaces. Single story layouts on crawlspaces, hardwood or original oak under carpet in the bedrooms, tiled hall bathrooms with mid century ceramic and kitchens that have usually been remodeled at least once. A ranch is quick to clean when it is in good order and slow when it is not, because everything is on one level and there is nowhere to stage equipment.
Crawlspace houses also bring a humidity problem that two story homes on slabs do not have as badly. Air moves up from the crawlspace through floor penetrations, which is why baseboards and closet floors in older Marietta ranches can hold a musty film even in a house that is otherwise well kept. Those surfaces get washed rather than wiped and closet floors are part of the deep clean list here more often than elsewhere.
Historic houses near the Square and along Kennesaw Avenue need a different approach again. Yards are the other Marietta factor. Cobb County lots are generous and heavily wooded with oak and pine and the red clay underneath comes into the house on shoes, paws and sports equipment. Clay is the hardest common household soil to remove because it is fine enough to sit inside a grout line and it stains light tile. Entry floors, grout at the door lines and mudroom areas get worked directly here rather than covered by a general floor pass.
